General rules

All abstracts and e-posters must be written in English, in a language suitable for publication by January 20 2019. Please check the grammar and spelling of the text in English before sending. Abstracts must be original and must not be published or presented at any other congress before OSCON. Abstracts containing new information and modified contents of a previously published or presented abstracts will not be considered nor accepted for presentation. Each person may submit up to 3 abstracts as a presenting author. Abstracts received after the Abstract Submission Deadline will not be considered.

Upon submission, the Abstract Submitter confirms that the abstract has been previewed and that all information are correct, he or she accepts that the content of this abstract cannot be modified or corrected after final submission and is aware that it will be published exactly as submitted.

Submission of the abstract constitutes the authors’ consent to publication. The Organisers reserve the right to remove from any publication an abstract which does not comply with the above. The Organisers will notify author of the current status of the abstract. Also, the corresponding author is responsible for informing the other authors about the status of the abstract.

After the deadline, the OSCON Scientific Committee will review all the received abstracts and within 7 days submit the acknowledgment of acceptance to the mail that is enclosed in the application form. Authors of accepted abstracts will be informed about detailed information as well as the schedule of exhibitions. Please note that any submitted abstract, even if accepted by the Scientific Committee, will not be included in the conference program, Congress Book of Abstracts and e-Poster Walk Sessions should you fail to register for the conference.

Congress participant may be active or passive. As a passive participant you can take part in all congress activities, but you do not have to lecture or present your work. As an active participant you have the right to participate in all congress activities, but you are not obligated to present your work. Active participant have to register and submit their abstract. Passive are obligated to register.

The subject of your research does not have to be related to this year's topic of OSCON. This year's topic will be covered by invited speakers and organised workshops.


Participation fee

Participation fee for active participants is 150 HRK (20 EUR), and for passive participants 185 HRK (25 EUR). If you are a student of University of J. J. Strossmayer in Osijek participation fee for active participants is 100 HRK (13 EUR), and for passive participants 135 HRK (18 EUR). Students from Faculty of Medicine Osijek are freed from participation fees.


Abstract submission guidelines

Carefully read the general rules before submitting your abstract.

Set the margin in the document to Normal, to 2.5 cm; left 2.5 cm; down 2.5 cm; right 2.5 cm.

ABSTRACT TITLE: limited to 170 characters (font: Times New Roman, size 14, bold; align: center)

AUTHORS: full name of each author (font: Times New Roman, size 12; align: center)
name of the institution under the author's name (name of department / institution, city, state); please check the proper name of the institution in English (font: Times New Roman, size 12, italic; align: left)

The following instructions refer to abstracts that fall into one of the following categories:

  • Basic Science
  • Clinical Medicine
  • Public Health

STRUCTURE OF THE ABSTRACT:

The abstract text (without title and author) is limited to 2700 characters (font: Times New Roman, size 11; alignment: two-sided).

  • INTRODUCTION: A brief description of what is known about the subject and its significance for research, and to explain objective and hypothesis of the same
  • MATERIALS AND METHODS: Describe the applied methods and the time frame in which the research was conducted; specify the number of respondents and steps taken in research
  • RESULTS: Display the main results of the research with well-substantiated evidence
  • CONCLUSION: A response to the hypothesis from the introduction based on the results

The following instructions refer to works that fall into the category:

  • Case report

STRUCTURE OF THE ABSTRACT:

  • INTRODUCTION: A brief description of the current knowledge of the subject
  • CASE STUDY: Explain what was done with the patient and how, the diagnostic procedures he underwent and what therapeutic steps were taken
  • CONCLUSION: Explain the importance of highlighting this case

E-posters submission guidelines

Electronic posters or e-posters are posters that instead of paper format are displayed on LCD screens. They do not require printing or production of additional materials. During the congress all e-posters will be available to participants for electronic viewing.

Format: PDF

In pixels: 1920 width x 1080 height (landscape orientation)

In inches: 16:9



To upload your poster, please follow the following steps:

  • Create your poster according to the template showed above.
  • Export your poster as a PDF-file (File > Save as > PDF-file).
  • Click on the link in your invitation e-mail.
  • Upload your poster. We will give you more information about poster and upload deadline once we accept your abstract.

Below is template for a properly written abstract and crafted poster. You can download these two templates and use them as an example to make your own abstract and poster.

Note: The poster design does not have to be the same as our example, however dimensions must be the same.
